Somehow, by the grace of this universe, you landed —with your eyes closed and your body curled— in this epoch. This wonderful and absolutely crazy epoch. What are the chances?
You will live to witness the creation of the first conscious being that functions on silicon. A conscious being designed not by god or by nature, but by people of your same kind. Future generations will take it for granted, but you will get to see it for the first time, and that only happens once (ONCE!) for every civilization.
